I am back from the hospital. Still have to undergo a nuclear stress test on Monday morning, but so far the chest pains appear not to be cardiac in nature. Barring the finding of anything new on Monday, it looks like it was either a chest muscle cramp or an esophageal issue. Resting for the remainder of today, back to work tomorrow.

Glad to hear that it was most likely something minor! I hope you feel better soon.

i had a herniated disc in my neck that caused really bad chest pain.... like "i am having a heart attack" chest pain. i was in bed for 3 months before this went away. the only relief i got was when my chin was almost touching my chest.

so, did they check out your neck? i'm only sharing this as it seems that they didn't give you a specific diagnosis. did your pain go away? did anything help it go away?

Yes, the pain did go away after they gave me a nitro patch and some Vicodin. The pain hasn't returned. The cardiologist is quite sure it's not cardiac in nature, but we'll definitely know after Monday's stress test.

Do you still have pain to this day, or did it just take a long time to disappear?

Just found out yesterday that my insurance company didn't approve the stress test. So it's been tentatively rescheduled for the 17th. Meanwhile, the cardiologist will call Blue Cross herself to see if she can get it authorized.

omg that is horrible!!!!! who's practicing medicine here? oy, that gets my blood boiling. i sure hope you get this sorted soon.

the chest pain went away after 3 months of lying down. i would get up and walk some but it resolved on its own. my neck is not the same and if i lift too much, i feel tension in my neck and shoulder.

Hehe, I know! It's actually called that to differentiate it from a standard stress test where they have the patient walking/running on a treadmill. With the nuclear stress test, they inject a dye in your veins which elevates the heaart rate, and are then able to see whether there are any blockages and also how well the heart valves do their job.
